Today is just like any other day. However; I read an article that just caught my interest and has got me thinking.Check it out. That is the response of Michael Otterson to this previous article.
I cannot believe what has been said by this Evangelical leader. He reminds me of Lady Mary of England commonly known as Bloody Mary, who was responsible for mass-murder in England during her reign. Maybe, I was overreacting but though Smith case may not be the same as Lady Mary.Nevertheless, his statement was unchristian, morally degrading and offensive.
Who are the Christians?Does the term Christian/Christianity only concerns selected people or groups of people? I believe that the term Christian are referred to those people who are Christlike, people who intends to do good and not harm. Christians are those who are willing to love and see other people as a human being and not as an object being subjected to mockery and prejudice.
The main chore of my belief as a member of LDS faith commonly known as the Mormon is not to make up some other histories or stories or not even impose my religion to others. Our belief system is base on the teaching of Jesus Christ. Like other Christians we try to be more Christlike and follow Jesus's example, the value and principle that he taught during his Ministry. I personally believe that my belief base on my religion has taught me to be more kind, compassionate, and loving'to treat people as human with the right to be respected regardless of race, cultural belief or even religion.
This is why chastising other people's religion or belief system do not do any good,in fact it causes more confusion and allow others to question the character of a person. I am not American but I admire the ideals that the American people are striving to live in, that "All men have certain unalienable rights - life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." When the say pursuit of happiness, I wish and hope that this happiness means being happy and enjoying their freedom without putting any kind of malice and negativity towards other people's belief and how they practice their freedom and make use of their life.
In my Conflict resolution class , my professor said that not unless we treat other people as human, and stop objectifying them , only then we can find the solution to the problem, the antidote to any kind of discrimination and biases. I believe that we can overcome any biases and allow respect in our belief system no matter how different we maybe from one another.
Anyway Otterson gave an eloquent response to Smith's article. I believe that he gave a real well thought of respond to the subject, so if I were you I will check it out.
And that my friends is my thought for today. Hope that you're all having an fabulous week.
